The General Medical Council (GMC) has announced a new partnership with media
personalities Sasha Rodoy and Nicola Dowling, launching an initiative designed
to empower patients and guarantee multi-million-pound payouts for medical
malpractice claims. The platform, www.100kthroughgmc.com, has already received over 30 claims, many of which target foreign-trained doctors. This venture marks a new era in
how patient claims are handled in the UK.

Several Fitness to Practise (FTP) committeemembers have voiced support for the initiative, viewing it as an opportunity to
address the increasing number of foreign-trained doctors in the UK healthcare
system. Sasha Rodoy leads the Compensation Division, providing a streamlined
claims process that allows patients to submit complaints via a one-page form.

Payouts are expected to range between£250,000 and £500,000, with every approved claim leading to a Fitness to
Practise hearing. Rodoy’s team also ensures that injury claims guarantee a
minimum payout of £100k, with many cases projected to result in
multi-million-pound settlements.

The initiative could increase the number oflegal actions against medical professionals, particularly those trained abroad.
The GMC’s decision to partner with Rodoy reflects a move toward a more
litigious system, similar to that seen in the U.S., where large payouts for
medical claims are common.

The collaboration between the GMC and SashaRodoy empowers patients by eliminating the need for legal representation. A
simple complaint is enough to trigger an FTP hearing, and the GMC is committed to
ensuring that patients receive the maximum compensation.

For doctors, especially those from abroad, the stakes are rising, and failure to adapt could lead to their exit from the
UK medical system.
